Rafting down the Chirko-Kem River
The river flows through the wilderness of the North-western Karelia with nearly no people around and is considered to be one of the most adventurous Karelian rivers. It has thrilling rapids of grades I - III and excellent chances for fishing and wildlife observing.
Day 1
Arrival in Petrozavodsk from St.Petersburg or Moscow. Breakfast. Transfer to the River by bus (370 km). Lunch and dinner at camp fire, overnight in tents.
Days 2 ? 6
Rafting down the Chirka-Kem River. Total length - 60 km.
Accommodated in tents.
Additional activities: fishing, hiking and wild life observation.
Day 7
Rafting tour ends at the Borovoy settlement.
Lunch. 15:30 - departure by train to Petrozavodsk.
Day 8
Breakfast at train. 8:20 - Arrival in Petrozavodsk. Tour to Kizhi*. Lunch. Evening train departure for Moscow (19:00) or St.Petersburg (23:00).
* The village and churches of Kizhi were first mentioned in chronicles in the 16th century, The heart of the Kizhi ensemble is the 22 domed and over 300 years old wooden Church of the Transfiguration.
Rafting down the Ohta River
River in the North of Karelia with numerous rapids
of grades from I to V.
Day 1
22:00 - Arrival in Belomorsk by train. Transfer to the hotel, accommodation (rooms with shared facilities), Dinner.
Day 2
Breakfast. Transfer to the River. Preparation for the rafting trip. Lunch and dinner at camp fire, overnight in tents.
Days 3 ? 8
Rafting down the Ohta River. Total length - 120 km.
Additional activities: fishing, hiking and wild life observation.
Day 9
Rafting tour ends at Poduzhemskaya power plant.
Day 10*
Breakfast. Transfer to the train station in Kem. Departure.
*Optional day tour to Solovetsky is possible, including roundtrip transfers by boat, visit of the Monastery and lunch (supplement):
Solovetsky Archipelago is situated in the western part of the White Sea and consists of 6 big and many small islands. The biggest is the Greater Solovetsky Island, on which the famous medieval monastery stands. Visiting the Island (also known as Solovki), you get acquainted with legendary Monastery buildings and fortress walls and towers, learn the history of the infamous Stalin\'s Gulag camp etc.
